Kia’s three-row vehicle, the New Kia Carens, has been released in India after a long wait at an introductory price of Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus are the five variations of the Kia Carens. The seven-seat arrangement is standard across all models, while the six-seat version is only available in the Luxury Plus trim level.
Exterior
According to Kia, the Carens is the first vehicle in India to use the ‘Opposites United’ design language. The car is the outcome of a partnership between the Indian design team and the Kia Design Centre in Namyang, South Korea. The Kia Carens are available in eight different colour schemes. The Carens are now available in three additional colour options: Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, and Sparkling Silver, in addition to Intense Red, Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Grey, Glacier White Pearl, and Clear White. Kia’s distinctive tiger face is featured on the fascia, along with a digital front grille and star map LED DRLs with crown jewel LED headlights.
Silver trim on the window line and a split chrome strip in the lower half of the door highlight the side profile. 16-inch dual-tone crystal cut alloy wheels are fitted to the Carens. The rear part is emphasised by star map LED taillights and a diamond knurling pattern on the chrome rear bumper garnish.

Interior
The newly released Kia Carens feature a luxurious interior layout with many storage places and sophisticated technology such as a 12.5-inch LCD cluster with an innovative 4.2-inch colour TFT multi-information display, 64-colour ambient mood lighting, and a smartphone wireless charger with a cooling function. Because it has the longest wheelbase in its class, the third-row passengers have extra space. Furthermore, the second row’s one-touch simple electric tumble seat provides easy access to the third row.
The car includes ventilated first-row seats, an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system, a smart pure air purifier with virus and bacteria prevention, and smartphone wireless charging with a cooling function. The Kia Connect app is also included in the vehicle to provide a better ownership experience. Six airbags, DBC, VSM, HAC, ESC, and all-wheel disc brakes are all standard across all models.
Engine
One diesel and two petrol engines are available for the Kia Carens. A six-speed manual transmission powers the Smartstream G1.5, producing 112bhp at 6,300rpm and 144Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. The SmartStream G1.4 T-GDi, on the other hand, delivers 136bhp at 6,000rpm and 242Nm of torque between 1,500 and 3,320rpm. The turbo petrol engine will be available with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT transmission. The diesel version comes with a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT engine that produces 112bhp at 4,000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,750rpm and is available in both six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions.
