Though we don’t expect the Soul EV to arrive in India for now, given the segment’s lower demand, the Soul with the petrol engine may certainly be working for the Indian market. The Soul is currently available on two petrol engines in global markets.
Kia Motors, a South Korean manufacturer made their Indian debut with Seltos SUV. It was a great product for Kia and greatly helped popularize the brand in India. In just a short time, the brand was so successful that Kia was able to sell around 80,000 units in 8 months. Carnival luxury MPV was the second product of the brand which we were once again given a good reply by customers. Kia is now preparing to introduce its Soul hatchback in Indian both petroleum and electric trims, according to some reports.

At the Auto Exhibition earlier this year, Kia displayed Soul hatchback and the audience viewed it positively. Manohar Bhat, VP Sales, and Marketing Department, Kia Motors India, said,
The Soul is a vehicle very young and very different. Although Soul EV may not currently be a viable solution for India, it is available in other powertrains and it deserves consideration. Our feedback on soul design has been really good. We’ll look forward to Soul or a similar vehicle for the Indian market. We take it seriously, and only after evaluating the success of the industry will we be able to move it forward.
The Soul hatchback, like any other Kia car, has a distinct design. It has sleek headlamps on the front and fog-shaped DRLs and ice cube lamps. The car has a broad-air dam and the size of the car looks pretty high. While players like Hyundai, Tata Motors and MG are the EV space, it doesn’t seem that Kia will initially bring Soul’s electricity in India as demand and infrastructure are still not up to date. It will probably be started with just a petrol engine. Just like Hyundai and other Kia vehicles, when released in India, Soul should have a vast array of apps.

The international version of the Kia Soul petrol is available with two engine options. One is a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder unit that generates 147 Bhp and the other is a much more powerful 1.6-liter turbocharged unit capable of generating 200 Bhp. It is highly unlikely that Kia will launch Soul with the same set of engines in India that could lead to higher price tags. It’s probably detonated petrol “as reported by cartoq.com”.
