The Mercedes-Maybach S-class has a more luxurious cabin, more space, and more equipment than the normal S-class. The S 580 is planned to be assembled in the United States.

  • The Maybach S-class is scheduled to be available in two versions: S 580 and S 680.
  • Over the long-wheelbase S-class, it has a 180mm larger wheelbase.
  • It’s expected to cost more than Rs 2 crore.

Interior and styling of the Mercedes-Maybach S-class

In terms of appearance, the new Maybach S-class, like its predecessor, doesn’t veer too far from the ordinary S-class. Aside from the longer wheelbase and larger rear door, the luxury limousine has a number of Maybach-specific exterior characteristics, including the iconic Maybach grille, unique wheel designs, more chrome, and the Maybach insignia on the C-pillar.

Maybach-specific upholstery, decorative inserts, and graphics for the touchscreen and digital instrument cluster are also in line with the conventional S-class cabin style. The Maybach S-class is expected to come in a four-seat configuration, with the rear seats separated by a full-length floor console. The chauffeur package, which includes motorized rear seats, seat massage, and a boss mode for stretching out on the co-driver side, will be standard on the normal S-class.

Expect the Maybach S-class to include all of the bells and whistles found in the normal S-class, as well as some additional equipment and a huge list of choices.

Engine possibilities for the Mercedes-Maybach S-class in India

Mercedes is likely to deliver both variations of the Maybach S-class to India, as it has done in other worldwide markets — the S 580 and the S 680. The S 580, which replaces the S 560, is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 with 503 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, as well as a 48V mild-hybrid system that can provide an additional 20 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque.

The S 680, on the other hand, is driven by a 6.0-liter V12 that produces 612hp and 900Nm of torque. A 9-speed automatic transmission is standard on both engines. Suspension is standard, just like it is on the normal S-class air-ride, and rear-wheel steering is expected.

Mercedes-Maybach S-class: the S 580 is expected to be built in the United States.

Mercedes is likely to construct the V8-powered S 580 alongside the conventional S-class at its Chakan site, as it did with previous iterations of the Maybach S-class. It’s unclear whether the vehicle will be locally produced from the start or if the first units will be CBU imports.

Meanwhile, the high-spec S 680 is scheduled to be imported as a CBU.

Expect the Maybachs to be more expensive than the ordinary S-class, with costs anticipated to be in the region of Rs 2 crore. Following the Maybach GLS, which landed in India in June 2021, the new Maybach S-class will be the company’s second new Maybach model to arrive in India in the previous 12 months “as read and reported by www.autocarindia.com”.
