Mahindra XUV700: The new flagship

Contrary to its new name, the XUV700 is the direct descendant of Sony’s cult hit, the XUV500. This will be most apparent in its design, which is expected to include many new design elements, including new headlights with C-shaped DRLs, pop-out door handles that sit flush with the body, a new grille, tail-lights, and alloy wheels. Although its overall styling will be similar to the XUV500, it will have its own unique personality. This will be the first Mahindra SUV to feature Mahindra’s new logo, which will debut on the XUV700.

XUV700 will have a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, black and beige interior theme, dual HD screens on the center console with one unit each for the touchscreen infotainment system and fully digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, and a Sony music system with four sound modes, according to a teaser video.

For the XUV700, Mahindra will also add plenty of features to make it more appealing. Amazon Alexa virtual assistant will be able to carry out voice commands, and there will be a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, and an electroluminescent instrument cluster. There will likely be a dual-screen layout for the infotainment and instrument cluster, AdrenoX interfaces for the infotainment, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and voice commands carried out by Amazon Alexa virtual assistant (a segment first). It’ll also be available in two different seating configurations: a 6-seat layout with captain’ seats in the middle row, and a 7-seat layout with bench-style seating in the middle row.

According to previous reports, Mahindra’s XUV700 will be equipped with the most powerful engines in the segment. Gearboxes will be available for both engines in manual and automatic configurations.

Mahindra XUV700 rivals in 2021

Other three-row SUVs such as the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar will be tough competitors for the Mahindra XUV700.

Mahindra has confirmed that the XUV500 will be temporarily discontinued when the XUV700 arrives. It is expected that the Hyundai Creta midsize SUV will be replaced by a new XUV500 midsize SUV in early 2024 “as read and reported by www.autocarindia.com”.
