Bookings Open for Land Rover Defender Plug-In Hybrid In India

The Land Rover Defender is expected to introduce a new hybrid plug-in (PHEV) to its P400e range in India. The car manufacturer has already started to accept Land Rover Defender Plug-In Hybrid reservations.

  • Petrol engine 2.0-liter and electric engine make a 404hp hybrid engine.
  • Gets a 19.2kWh battery and a 43km electrical-only range.
  • Delivery is scheduled to launch in April-June 2021.

Jaguar Land Rover India today announced the introduction of Defender hybrid plug-in bookings on the domestic market. The Defender P400e is Tata’s first PHEV luxury car venture and is the most powerful and fuel-efficient Defender.

It features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine operating in combination with a 105 kW electric motor, while the P400e produces a combined power output of approximately 400 horsepower and a peak torque of 640 Nm. It is claimed to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds before achieving a maximum speed of 209 kmph.

The 2021 Land Rover Protector P400e is fitted with a 19.2 kWh battery and comes with the ease of charging at home or office with a 15A socket or a 7.4 kW AC wall box converter. Rohit Suri, President & CEO of Jaguar Land Rover India, said at the opening of the bookings:

JLR reported that the coming Defender P400e would be sold in a total of four versions, namely SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE and X, on Defender 110The delivery is planned to commence in the first quarter of the next financial year of 2021 Land Rover DefenderP400e (April to June 2021 period). A host of zero-emission vehicles will be launched next year with luxury automakers concentrating on bringing electric cars to India.

Land Rover Defender Plug-In Hybrid Price:

The Defender went on a few months ago in 90 and 110 models and is priced at Rs. 73.98 lakh and goes all the way to Rs. 90.46 lakh (ex-showroom). Sold in Base, S, SE, HSE and First Edition trims, the new Defender is built on a new D7x design and is said to have the stiffest and most rigid body ever made by the company. Carrying an aluminum-intensive design, the off-roader can be purchased with five, six or seven seats.

It is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is decent enough to produce a maximum power output of 296 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission transferring power to all four wheels via a dual transmission case “www.gaadiwaadi.com”.
